Google has named their next Android version as ‘KitKat‘. Yup, the same chocolate candy made by Nestle. Despite being a trademarked named, the next Android would be called the ‘KitKat’. It would be next Android 4.4 version. Earlier people referred the next android to be ‘Key Lime Pie’ but the company went for ‘KitKat’ instead.

Android KitKat

Keep the tradition of naming all the version of Android after desserts alphabetically, this  could be considered as a dessert.  The major reason behind keeping the next Android KitKat is because Google employees personally love KitKat alot. So the company reached out to Nestle and within 24 hours Nestle agreed.
Google claims this is ‘not a money-changing-hands kind of deal’, which means the name is still a trademark of Nestle and Nestle did not object or ask for any compensation for using their name for the next Android version.

Sundar Pichai, who works on Android at Google said “I was also thrilled to find this guy waiting to greet me on the front lawn — love the new #AndroidKitKat statue and can’t wait to release the next version of the platform that is as sweet as the candy bar that’s one of our team’s favorites:)”
