News – City Recognizes Victorville American Senior Softball League 2013

VICTORVILLE – The City of Victorville recognized its American Senior Softball Team at Tuesday’s council meeting for their “their exciting, hard-fought and successful season,” according to a city announcement.

The Victorville American Senior Softball Team recently won the District 49, Section 8, Southern California Championship, and then went on to play in the semi-final game of the World Series, where they placed fourth in the World, according to the city.

Victorville Mayor Jim Cox read the following proclamation at Tuesday night’s meeting: “Whereas, the Victorville American Senior Softball Team is composed of girls between the ages of 14 and 15; and, whereas, their coaches felt that they had the ability to compete at a higher level and therefore played them up one division this season; and, whereas, the team went on to win the District 49, Section 8, Southern California State Championship and the Western Regionals that were played in Butte, Montana; and, whereas, after crushing their competition in those tournaments, the Victorville American Senior Softball Team went on to play in the semi-final game of the World Series and placed fourth in the World!”

“Now, therefore, I, Jim Cox, Mayor of the City of Victorville do hereby join the other members of the City Council in congratulating the Victorville American Senior Softball Team in their exciting, hard-fought and successful season; to commend them for their remarkable team efforts, sportsmanship and inspired team play; and to also extend our best wishes for continued success in the future,” Cox said.

“In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Official Seal of the City of Victorville to be affixed hereto this 1st day of October, 2013,” the mayor stated.
