Today marks the first day of winter, that time when the weather becomes cold, at least it finally is becoming here in New Jersey {not that I’m complaining} where I don’t want to leave my house and just want to cuddle and watch movies. How better than to romantically start the year off with a movie night in bed with your loved one. I haven’t had a quiet new year’s even in a long time, and that’s how I’ve wanted to ring in the new year since last year, and to welcome 2016 this year J and I will be spending it together making dinner and watching movies. 
A movie NYE sleepover with close friends would be a great way to do a casual New Year’s Eve celebration with a group too. Dressed up in fun pjs, a mini bar and classic movies and games to spend it with friends. But it is as lovely to spend it with just your significant other, and maybe a pet if you have one. The best is when you can just cuddle up, and can fall asleep whenever, then wake up and make breakfast in bed together! Cozy Comfortable Mattress. I love my memory foam mattress, it’s the best, a cross between super soft yet firm enough to sit up and watch a movie with your love. It really starts with the mattress, so make sure you invest in a quality one, like from Casper. I think a movie date night in with your love on NYE is a great way to start the year off!

Comfy + Cute Holiday PJs. These are a must and since it still is the holidays and the new year, dress up just a bit with pajamas that are cute yet comfortable and warming.

Cookies + Spiked Hot Cocoa. You can’t celebrate the holidays without cookies and cocoa, actually you can’t have any movie night during the winter without them.

During the holidays I love nothing more than one of these gingerbread cookies. It’s the holidays, so they’re even better enjoyed with a hot cocoa spiked with a bit of Irish Cream or Kahlua.
Marley. Honestly, it just isn’t movie night, or any night for that matter, without cuddling with my dog, Marley. He really is a great movie cuddler, except when he wants to play, but during colder nights there’s nothing that keeps me as warm as his snuggles at my feet.
Pick a Movie You Both Enjoy. Since Christmas has passed so has the holiday movies, but there is one that I enjoy watching for New Year’s Eve, why New Year’s Eve the movie. It’s a funny and light-hearted story of love and fresh starts.
Get Festive! Even if it is just two of you, get festive for the countdown to the new year with noise makers or festive party hats. Buy some great ones or simply diy this one, whatever you remember to photograph the both of you!
