Critics are calling DogTV a new breed of television, a 24-hour block of on-demand programming designed to keep your dog calm while you’re away from home.
During production, cameramen had to mute colors, alter sound, and add music specially written for dogs, according to the Huffington Post, with no commercials, ratings, and reruns. A million subscribers with a couple cable companies already have access to DogTV in San Diego alone. The cost will only be about $4.99 monthly, also according to Huffington Post.
The New York Times reported that DogTV, which is the first cable channel devoted to viewing by pets, features simple yet appealing views of grassy fields, bouncing balls, and humans rubbing the tummies of dogs.
Trigger Tweets
All this 24/7 communication is getting out of hand and paw. Now you can receive tweets from your dog. Puppy Tweets are an electronic tag that you attach to your dog’s collar. It detects his or her movements and sends tweets to a Twitter account.
Computers for Dogs
If you’ve ever felt so irritated with your computer that you could scream at it, then you will understand the frustration of your little pet.
Scientists aren’t insensitive to this rage against the machine. But they view it as a new kind of communication activity in which your pet can learn to call 911 or let keepers know about his distress.
Someday soon, your dog may be able to control his own computer with a swipe of the paw and tools, such as a digital rattle, according to The Telegraph.
Game for Cats
Worried about your cat being bored? Well, the iPad was an incredible invention for us humans, but it can also be a great way to stimulate your four-legged friend, as well. ‘Game for Cats’ was released as a free download for pet owners. In the game, cats will get to enjoy chasing around a bouncing light. If cats are able to smack it, they receive a point.
