“Behind every great man there is a great woman.” Many of us have heard and used the proverb. But, only a few have actually taken its meaning literally.
Meet Melissa Pierce and Marian Mangoubi, two Chicago-based entrepreneurs who are on a quest to give influential women their due place in this world with their new search engine called “Where Are the Women”.
The project idea took shape after Mangoubi (Sassy CEO) and Pierce (Pitch Refinery andCWDevs) noticed that top-ranking female executives were often given the cold-shoulder by members of the media:
“The media seemed intent on repeatedly excluding them or decrying that there just weren’t any women in whatever field they were writing about,” they say in an email. “We joined forces shortly after Melissa wrote a piece listing over 100 women in venture capital.”
