Last Saturday, March 1, 2014, a small village in Spain called Luzon had a carnival.
That’s nothing unusual as carnival festivals are celebrated in hundreds of villages across Spain.
What is unusual, as reported by NBC News, is that the celebrants in Luzon’s carnival smeared themselves with oil and soot, and wore bull horns on their heads, to look like devils (see pic above). Preserved records from the 14th century document Luzon’s carnival, but the real origin of the tradition could have begun much earlier.
There are people who do the devilish Luzon carnival celebrants one better.
Instead of wearing bull horns on their heads and smearing their faces with oil and soot, these sick individuals undergo “extreme body modifications” of tattoos and plastic surgery to make themselves look like monsters.
Michael Snyder writes on The Truth, Feb. 18, 2014, “there is a growing subculture of individuals out there that truly seem to enjoy ‘pushing the envelope’ and seeing what is possible. Some of them want to look like cats, some want to look like vampires, others want to look like aliens and some even want to look like the devil.”
A CNN report says there are now thousands of people who have embraced “extreme body modification” as a lifestyle and the movement is growing rapidly. One website alone that has 3 million photos of extreme body modification.
Horns. Forked tongues. Elf ears. Whiskers.
No, these aren’t features from the latest fantasy film. Today, thousands of people are getting their bodies modified in all sorts of bizarre and unusual ways. Tattoos are just the tip of the iceberg for people interested in body modification, referred to as “body mutilation” by detractors.
People called “body modification artists” perform these unconventional surgical procedures, typically on young clients. These treatments range from the simple, such as implanting metal bolts on a person’s neck, to the extreme, such as creating ridges under a person’s skin in order to make him look like a human lizard.
Devil man Gavin Paslow
A 43-year-old man in the UK who calls himself “Diablo Delenfer” (real name Gavin Paslow) wants to look as much like the devil as possible. To that perverse end, the former security guard spent more than £10,000 (about $16,711) to get a forked tongue by slicing it in two, got sub-dermal implants in his head to create a set of horns, and even got an eyeball tattoo to turn the whites of his eyes bright red. All without anesthesia.
Paslow said, “I describe myself as a body modification artist. I am a human curiosity but body modification is my life’s journey. It’s a little bit weird, a little bit eccentric but that’s what I am.”
Some of the money Paslow has spent on his “body modification” are “benefits” from the government, i.e., welfare. He is now aiming for “the final step” in his quest to look like a devil: he wants a tail.
Vampire woman Maria Cristerna
Even more frightening looking than devil man Paslow is a 35-year-old woman in Mexico named Maria Cristerna who is known as “the Vampire Lady”.
The 35-year-old attorney says she grew up in a “deeply religious” family. She is covered head-to-toe in tattoos, had dental work so she appears to have fangs, and even had titanium horns inserted into her head.
When people see Cristerna coming, many of them cross over to the other side of the street because she literally looks like a monster.
