Food & Drink Magazine
Nakd are well known as a wholefood brand whose fruit bars contain only raw ingredients, with no dairy, wheat, gluten, or added sugar. Their new range of "Crunch" fruit bars have added a little extra punch to the usual mix of fruit and nut ingredients, in the form of high protein "Soya Crunchies".
I bought a box of four bars, but you can also buy these bars individually. The packaging doesn't claim these to be one of your five a day unlike other Nakd bars I've tried previously (such as these Nakd Rhubarb & Custard bars). I assume that the added soya crunchies result in the fruit content (and sugar content!) being lower.
I wasn't expecting the banana flavor to be very strong, especially considering they don't contain any artificial ingredients. However, I was pleased to find that the banana is actually very satisfying and distinct. It's a sweet natural flavour, that's very delicious. Banana fans like me will certainly be more than happy with the flavor.
The Soya Crunchies are described as "packed full of protein... keeping hunger at bay with slow release energy". They don't have any particular taste that I could identify but they liven up the bar with their crunchy texture, making it a more interesting prospect than just a standard dried fruit bar. The rest of the bar is the same combination of dates, cashews and raisins as most of the other bars in the Nakd range - all perfectly dominated here by the delicious banana flavor.
There are three other flavours in this new Crunch range; Strawberry Crunch, Apple Crunch and Cocoa Crunch. I've bought all three so I'll update on here when I've tried them!
