New Music Spotlight with Taylor Swift, Sum 41, and More

New Music from Taylor Swift, Sum 41, Midland, KILLY, and The Static Shift

It's always a good day for new music, and we're here to give you a listen to some tracks we think are worthy of your ears.

We've got Canadian and American artists on our list of five songs. And in this list, you'll find pop, rock, rap, and country represented.

Hit play on each of these songs and leave us a comment telling us which song(s) you'll be adding to your playlists.

Ready? Let's Go!

Artist: Taylor Swift
Hometown: Reading, PA
Genre: Pop
Related: Selena Gomez, Carly Rae Jepsen, Miley Cyrus
Song: You Need To Calm Down
Notes: T.Swift has a new song, a lyric video, and has announced that her new album, Lover, will be released on August 23, 2019. You Need To Calm Down is a catchy pop bop that also acts as a response to every hater on the internet. It fires at the trolls that take shots at Taylor, the creeps that look for anyone they can to go after, and (as we celebrate Pride Month) the homophobes that show their hate all too often. Get ready to sing, dance, and keep loving Taylor Swift.

Artist: Sum 41
Hometown: Ajax, ON
Genre: Rock, Punk
Related: Billy Talent, blink-182, Rise Against
Song: A Death In The Family
Notes: The boys have come a long way from water guns in the suburbs to where they're at now, preparing for the release of their next album, Order In Decline. A Death In The Family moves quickly, gets the juices flowing. The GTA punk rock vets have still got it, they're still into it, and if this is what we can expect - we're ready for the whole album now!

Artist: Midland
Hometown: Dripping Springs, TX
Genre: Country
Related: Brothers Osborne, Chris Janson, Easton Corbin
Song: Put The Hurt On Me
Notes: With the same silky smooth harmonies that we've come to know and love in the past, Midland delivers again on You Put The Hurt On Me. The track will be included on their next album Let It Roll (August 23, 2019) and joins Mr. Lonely as previews for the country fans of the world. The throwback vibes we get from the band are strong again on Put The Hurt On Me and we dig it.

Artist: KILLY
Hometown: Toronto, ON
Genre: Rap/Hip-Hop
Related: Smokepurpp, Ronny J, MadeinTYO
Song: Eye For An Eye
Notes: KILLY hits hard and fast on Eye For An Eye, clocking in at just under two minutes. The Toronto rapper continues to show us that he's one to watch. And as he hits the road to play throughout the United States, Europe, and at home in Canada, we know other people are going to be watching and listening too!

Artist: The Static Shift
Hometown: Calgary, AB
Genre: Rock
Related: Crownlands, The Beaches, POESY
Song: 1965
Notes: Someone found a time machine, put three dudes from Calgary in it, and the result is The Static Shift, their new song 1965, and a rock and roll throwback that we're all in on. The Episode 3 - Season 1 winners from The Launch on CTV are back (you can also check out ) and while we enjoy the heck out of this, we're also hoping there's more coming soon in the form of a full album!
