Daytime Nighttime, All Through the Year
by Diane LangIllustrated by Andrea Gabriel
Animals are so busy! In daytime, eagles dive for fish, lizards gobble insects, and tortoises dine on cactus flowers. When night falls, bats catch moths, crickets sing, and cougars prowl. Engaging rhymes describe the action through the cycle of every day and night, as well as through each month of the year. An "Explore More" section provides teachers and parents with lots of ideas to expand on the seasonal and nocturnal themes.

From Susan: This book has so much to teach kids: months of the year, animal behavior, seasonal changes, and more! Children will love the Match Game in the back of the book, and parents and educators will benefit from the Teachable Moments for more suggestions on how to educate kids about animals, seasons, day vs night and habitats. Information about 24 animals is included!

Tall Tall Tree
by Anthony D. FredericksIllustrated by Chad Wallace
There’s a magical, wild world happening in the tallest of tall trees—a world teeming with life that very few people ever see! Come take a peek at the animals that make their home in a tall, tall redwood tree. Children will love the rhymes and count the critters from one to ten. Look out for the hidden animals, too! Lots of fun and lots of interesting science—including STEAM activity suggestions.
From Susan: This book starts out with an adorable letter to "humans" from a Northern Spotted Owl that lives in a redwood tree! Fun fact: They went undiscovered in redwood trees for many years until humans finally figured out how to get to the top of the trees that are higher than many buildings! Throughout the book, kids learn to count to 10, identify animals, and read amazing things about redwood trees. Parents and educators will appreciate the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities at the book of the book.
