It is a wondrous thing when musicians can take a classic style and make it relevant in present day. Toot Sweet, a cabaret collective based out of NY, offer young energy and soul in this somewhat endangered style. For the track “Dilettante”, they narrate a problem that plagues creatives everywhere: “See I can’t make up my precious mind / And I’m too distracted to unwind / Yeah I don’t know how to use my time / I don’t wanna be a— / dilettante”. The composition is smart and the vocals are charming and addictive. We definitely hope this style, and this band, hits our speakers more often.
