It’s no secret that we’re complete suckers for smoky-voiced, female singer-songwriters here at The Wild Honey Pie. Honestly, if you were to look at the contents of my iPod, you would be led to believe that the only musicians in the world were sincere women who sing in low registers. With that in mind, Natureboy (@natureboysongs), the project of former House on a Hill member Sara Kermanshahi, is completely within our wheelhouse, right down to Sharon Van Etten’s guest vocals. Atmospheric synths sweep in and out of simple pop songs anchored by a folk structure, making each one perfect for casual listening. With chill-wave aesthetics and Natureboy’s brutal, beautiful sincerity, The Sweep will be a perfect album for the coming summer.
