Natalie Mccool’s ‘dig It Out’ is Exactly What Your Day Needs [stream]

There are many elements of Natalie McCool’s “Dig It Out” that make it a perfect pop song to my ears. The lightly finger-picked guitar lines, the delicate build of the first verse with deftly timed claps preceding the chorus, the saccharine and perfectly rhythmic chorus, the wistful state of the lyrics and McCool’s gorgeous voice are all a part of the equation and the reason she is an artist I’m excited about. Her self-titled debut album was released in the UK a year and a half ago, and the songstress recently signed to Young & Lost Club who released “Dig It Out”, her newest single. With influences from the likes of Jeff Buckley, Cocteau Twins, PJ Harvey, and Stone Roses, McCool is headed in a direction that I want to follow.
