“I think in the next 20 years we will find out we are not alone in the universe,” says NASA astronomer Kevin Hand.

Thanks to the powerful Hubble telescope NASA managed to find hundreds of habitable planers near to our solar system. Scientists at NASA are now moving ahead with their plans for studying planetary systems, beginning with the launch of the Transiting Exoplanet Surveying Satellite (TESS) in 2017, the James Webb Space Telescope (Webb Telescope) in 2018 and many others to come through out the next 20 years. NASA is confident that “finding life beyond earth is within reach.”

“Sometime in the near future, people will be able to point to a star and say, ‘that star has a planet like Earth’,” says Sara Seager, professor of planetary science and physics. “Astronomers think it is very likely that every single star in our Milky Way galaxy has at least one planet.”
