Winnipeg has a few amazing urban forests, where white-tail deer live relatively unbothered by the human presence.
In Bois-des-esprits, the 30- or 40-deer herd likes feeding and meeting in the same spots. If you are patient, quiet, and give the animals time to get used to you, they will let you approach them very closely. My record is about 10 metres.
White-tail deer are beautiful creatures. They move gracefully. Their inquisitive looks always move me.
