I love the night. There is something special about it that triggers my creativity. Most of my best writing has been achieved between midnight and 3 a.m.
Night has also been my greatest ally. It was there to help alleviate the mental and physical pain I felt during the day throughout my ten-year depression. (Yes, depression can be so severe that your body shuts down or decides to rebel.) As soon as 8 or 9 pm hit, I would feel renewed and full of energy for hours!
Now, a decade or so later, I no longer have to deal with depression. In fact, I have never been happier in my life. But night still holds a special place in my heart. It speaks to my soul in more ways than one. That is the reason why I often allude to it in my poetry.
