2016 is fast approaching and I am already in full swing of planning my travels for the year. This year is very different to my last few years of travel as my boyfriend is based in Brazil, because of this most of my travel plans revolve around time spent seeing him. So instead of throwing country names out there this year I have much more concrete plans.
I will be starting the year in Brazil, celebrating New Year on Copabarna beach with the dazzling fireworks display I have heard so much about. My trip will finish on the 7th on January when I will land back in chilling England. After that my plans look a little like this…

February/March – Disneyland Paris
Despite my love for kids movies and theme parks I have never been to Disney. Therefore my best friend and I are planning a trip here during those horrible wintery months to cheer us up. We are hoping to go for two nights and stay just outside the park to ensure we make the most of those rather pricey tickets. Currently we are planning to take the Eurostar across the channel and I’m even looking forward, it is just so much easier than flying.
Easter (late March-early April) – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Buenos Aires Argentina
After a few months of long distance with JP, I will head back over to Rio for my Easter break from university. It will be much the same as my Christmas visit with no pressure to see all of the sights but to just really immerse myself in the culture and language. This will probably be our last chance to escape Brazil before work goes crazy busy for JP and we are hoping to fly down to Argentina for the weekend. I have heard such lovely things about Buenos Aires that I really hope this trip comes off.
Croatia maybe?
June – Europe for a week
In June I will be going on my first family holiday for years, we will be staying in a villa and generally just relaxing and enjoying the sunny weather. Destination is undecided yet but it could likely be Portugal as that is currently the only place I have researched – of course my family have left me in charge of booking the whole thing!
June, July and August – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the Olympics
As soon as my Europe holiday is over I will be flying onto Brazil for the entire summer holidays. I am making the most of my long university summer holidays this year and will spend the whole three months out in Brazil. I will likely stay in Rio de Janeiro as this is going to be the place to be while the Olympics are on and I’m hoping for some kind of Carnaval experience as I will be missing actual Carnaval in February. Of course if there is the chance of a trip to somewhere new and exciting I doubt I will turn it down.
December – Winter holiday and Christmas Markets
During the festive season this year my best friend and I have made a promise to head off to a European Christmas market next year. We haven’t set a destination but Bruges, Germany or Austria all sound so appealing. As well as this next winter once JP is back from Rio we are hoping to head off on a very wintery break right before Christmas. After spending another Christmas in the sun this year I think we will be craving the extreme winter conditions and traditions of Christmas that so many European countries offer. Who knows we may even be able to go snowboarding again.
