My Review of Sabrinas Ballerina Flats

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

sabrinas ballerina flats A few years ago, a reader of my blog asked me if I was familiar with Sabrinas ballerina flats.  Having never heard of them, I kept the name of these shoes on my radar as I was told by this reader that Sabrinas, out of Spain, are the most comfortable styles she had ever worn.  That’s quite a testimony.

So when I received an email from a representative from Sabrinas, asking me if I wanted to test a pair for free and review them, I was more than happy to oblige.  It wasn’t just the fact that I was getting free shoes that got me excited, it was because I could actually test out this blog reader’s claim and if they were as comfortable as she said they were.

As luck would have it, I am a Sabrinas size 37 sample size, so I received two pairs of their popular London flats that come in a variety of beautiful colors.  I got a flaming orange and taupe pair that I instantly fell in love with.  I can’t begin to tell you how amazingly stunning the orange is.

The Sabrinas London Flats I received.

Aside from being pretty, the suede uppers are so soft and rich.  I was hooked at first sight.  But were they as comfortable as they were pretty?   I was about to find out.

Before I get into that, let me tell you a little about this brand.  Sabrinas Comfort Shoes was founded 12 years ago by Nordikas S.L. , located in Elche, Spain.

Nordikas is privately owned, over 30 years old and makes some of the finest house shoes in Europe. Both Nordikas and Sabrinas are 100% made in Spain and both brands are found in Europe, Korea, China, Great Britton, Australia, Canada and United States.

Sabrinas was introduced to the U.S. market in 2010. The shoes are sold mainly in better comfort and better fashion boutiques in the U.S. The uniqueness of the company’s approach is that a store can buy most any style in any leather and color specifically for their consumer market. There are 8 constructions,  all featuring the finest Suede, Nubuck, smooth leather, Snake printed leather and patent. The all leather construction has a Latex Outsole for extra comfort and flexibility.  There is a 5 mm memory foam under the leather socklining for extra comfort as well.

The retail price points are $149.00 to $225.00. Their top selling style (basic Flat pump) is known as the London construction.  This is the style I received.

You may remember I reviewed Tieks ballerina flats a few years ago which helps give me a fair perspective on which to compare.  After all, Tieks ballerina flats have been touted as the most comfortable ballerina flats and are hugely popular.  While I do wear and enjoy my Tieks and find them comfortable, if I had to say which were more comfortable, Sabrinas or Tieks, Sabrinas ballerina flats win hands down.  I’m sorry, they do.   In fact, I’ll go a step farther and say that my Sabrinas flats are the most comfortable flats I have ever worn, period.

Sabrinas are sturdy and supportive

First of all, Sabrinas give you way more support than most ballerina flats do.   They have a small half inch heel and that 5mm of memory foam which makes all the difference.  Often, it seems, the more support ballerina flats have the less stylish they look.  This is definitely not the case with Sabrinas.  It should also be noted that I never had to break my Sabrinas in.  Yet, they have become more comfortable the more I have worn them.

Next, Sabrinas are sturdy, but not in a clunky or heavy way.  They are actually quite light while being substantial.  Once you put them on, it’s like the shoes embrace your feet and you feel supported while also oddly feeling like you aren’t wearing any shoes.  I can have my Sabrinas on for a good length of time and forget I am wearing them.

What I also appreciate about Sabrinas ballerina flats is I would consider them walking shoes.  Before trying on my Sabrinas, I never really considered ballerina flats to be good for walking long distances or standing for great deals of time.  Last week I worked with a client all day and was on my feet from 3pm to 8pm.  It wasn’t until the end of the day that I started to feel a slight pang of discomfort, which is normal in any shoes when you are on your feet that long.

Sabrinas ballerina flats are simply stylish

Lastly, Sabrina ballerina flats look good.  For a pair of flats like this that are supportive and can be worn as walking shoes,  it’s hard to find a pair that is doesn’t compromise style.  Sabrinas are simple, basic and delicately chic while also being walking shoes.

Now, of course, everyone’s feet are different.  While I do think everyone should check out Sabrinas for themselves, I can’t guarantee that this will be everyone’s experience.  I do feel confident, however, that most will find them outrageously comfortable, like I do.

Beyond Sabrinas ballerina flats

It should also be noted that Sabrinas is not just a ballerina flats maker.  They make a variety of styles, like heels and wedges, all with the same superior construction and focus on comfort.

Buying Sabrinas in the U.S.

Here is the caveat, Sabrinas aren’t easy to come by in America currently.  Their U.S. website is set to launch in 2017, here is a link to their site in Spain, and the company prefers you check out the shoes in person and trying them on first by visiting one of the 75 retailers in the US that sells them and Footwearetc.com, an authorized online retailer of the shoes  When I questioned the company about seeing Sabrinas on Amazon, I was told that Amazon is not considered an authorized retailer and it was assumed a store was using the site to sell closeout styles.
