Hello everyone!
As you probably know by now, I am a writer with a minimalist style. I also suck at descriptions. Anything short, concise and punchy is my jam.
When I started dabbling in flash fiction a couple of months ago, I quickly realized that I wrote pieces in the same way as I had written my play. Also, my passion for the Haiku, Sixku and Kindku strongly influenced their resulting looks and feels. So I figured that it might be interesting to create something that borrows from the three poetry forms and flash fiction.
The result? The Flashku, a multimedia genre that feels a bit like poetic prose!
The rules of the flashku are very simple:
- 50-100 words only.
- 7 words must be taken from another piece (credits mandatory)
- Inspired by an image (permission and credits mandatory)
- Minimal descriptions
- Climax at about 80% through the piece (not a hard rule, just a way to guide your writing)
- Positive / inspirational twist or resolution at the end
That's it!
Here is an example of flashku
