My “Hey Kettle, Meet Pot” Epiphany

By Jenny Evans @PowerHousePC

For years I’ve attempted to write a book.  I started several times, but kept quitting because there were so many angles, options and directions to go with it.  It was too big a goal, I didn’t know where to start, and it was going to take forever.  I got overwhelmed and quit.

I recently had an epiphany about what my clients and audiences often say:

“For years I’ve attempted to IMPROVE MY HEALTH.  I started several times, but kept quitting because there were so many angles, options and directions to go with it.  It was too big a goal, I didn’t know where to start, and it was going to take forever.  I got overwhelmed and quit.”

You know what I tell people when they say things like this?

“Do one thing.
Do one thing you know you can do.
Before you know it, you’ll be ready to do another one thing.
Instead of feeling like you can’t do it, your confidence and success in making these changes will continue to propel you forward, and you’ll suddenly realize you ARE doing it.
If you need help, it’s ok.  Most of us do.  Find a friend, loved one, accountability partner, coach, personal trainer, mentor or someone else to help you create a plan.”

Guess what?

My book is being written one word at a time.

Once I write the first paragraph, the second one becomes easier.

I have a coach that’s helping me create a plan that tells me exactly what to do.

Instead of feeling like I can’t do it, I realize I AM doing it.
