My Game 5 Preview
The uprising Pittsburgh Power (3-1) play Saturday April 19 in Phoenix as they prepare to face off against the National Conference powerhouse Arizona Rattlers. Both teams have been near the top of the pack this year, with the Power being second in the American Conference. The only AC team to top them is Cleveland, with a 4-0 record. The Rattlers are also undefeated and stand on the top of the NC.
Time: 9:00 PM EST
Venue: US Airways Center Phoenix, AZ
Where to watch: ESPN3 or WatchESPN
Few things to think about:
• This will be a homecoming game for Power DB Virgil Gray, who was apart of the Rattlers during their back to back Arena Bowl title runs in 2012 & 2013. Gray is about the best it gets when it comes to defensive backs (2nd in AFL in interceptions with 6) and has been a tremendous boost to the Power's defense, which has struggled since it's beginning in 2011.
• It will also be a highly-anticipated QB showdown between two of the best quarterbacks in the league, Arizona's Nick Davila and Pittsburgh's Tommy Grady. Davila won the 2011 AFL MVP award while Grady won it in 2012
• The Power are 0-2 all-time vs the Rattlers, with their last showdown being the closet, losing 45-55.
• It should be a relatively clean game, with both teams being tied at 2nd for fewest penalties so far (29).
• Power head coach Ron James has the highest winning percentage in AFL with a .1000 winning %... With 3 games with the Power My Game 5 Preview
• The Rattlers (62.5) PPG have the #1 ranked offense in the league, while the Power have the #4 best (56.8 PPG)...
• But the Power has the superior defense. The Power have only allowed (on average) 35 PPG, which is first in the league, while Arizona allows 48 PPG. The Power also lead the league in interceptions and fumbles, the only team in the league to be on top in more than one defensive category. Not too bad for a defense that's been ranked in the bottom since it's birth in 2011.
• With a win Saturday night, the Power will tie a franchise record for most wins in a row (4) and will already have tied last year's win total. Yeah, they were pretty bad.
My prediction:
Arizona 55
Pittsburgh 52
Also, I'm gonna try to start doing these pregame previews on a weekly basis now. The Power are a professional sports team in Pittsburgh and deserve their fair share of coverage on here. Now that they're actually starting to win, hopefully more of you will start following them. Go Power! My Game 5 Preview

Sent from my Droid Ultra using Tapatalk Thanks! I've had a passion for arena football since I learned about it back in 2009 and have been following them since their inaugural season in 2011. I actually have a Power bobblehead they gave out at their first game lol. If you ever want to check them out you can download the WatchESPN app. You can watch them live from there, along with other games going on in the AFL.
