My Foundation Routine

My Foundation Routine
Over the years I've tried out many different foundations, around Christmas 2013 I decided to treat myself and try out a MAC foundation, I absolutely love it and I haven't used anything different since. My foundation routine hasn't changed for awhile now, and I'm so pleased that I've finally found products that I'm happy with, and that suit my skin.
First of all I apply a primer. For a while now I've been using MAC Prep & Prime, it creates a smooth base ready for foundation application, and also gives my skin a natural looking glow. As I work long days, I really needed a primer that helped my foundation to stay on all day, this one really does. I apply 2 pumps to my fingertips and smooth it into my skin, I tend to avoid rubbing it in as I find smoothing it in creates a better base.
I then apply my foundation, I use MAC studio fix in shade NW10. I apply it with a Real Techniques 'Pointed Foundation Brush'. I really love this foundation as it goes onto my skin so easily. It provides a really good coverage yet still looks natural. I have quite a few blemishes on my skin as well as some redness so I'm happy to have found a foundation that helps to disguise the redness. After using a brush to apply, I then like to pat over my skin using a make-up sponge, I find that this evens out any lines from the brush and also gives my skin a fresh, dewy look.
Finally, to set my foundation I use MACs studio fix powder in shade NW13. I use a shade darker as when I bought the foundation & powder, I found that the powder in shade NW10 made me look a little too pale. I find this powder to be quite heavy and can make my make-up look caked on. However, with much trial and error I have found that just lightly dusting the powder all over my face just sets my foundation nicely without making it look caked on.
I then apply a little bronzer and blusher just to add some color and contour to my face and I'm done!
