Today I’m going to be talking about a gadget I love that helps me keep my figure in tact – the FitBit. It’s a fun and colorful athletic band that becomes your very own personal trainer.
you very own personal trainer
I always describe the FitBit as my personal fitness trainer attached to my wrist who monitors my every move. It monitors my calories (in and out), my activity, my sleep patterns, and even my weight.
I am always wearing this little gadget on my arm in every single video on youtube (if you haven’t already, subscribe). It is my fitbit and I absolutely love it.
a lot in a band
The FitBit looks like a rubber athletic band but the difference is the little computer chip tucked away within it. Although it has a device built in, you never have to take it off. Once in the band, the device is waterproof. However I do suggest you remove it before showering.
five lights or bust
The fitbit does work along with an app. You can download the fitbit app on android, iPhone, iPad and PCs. The FitBit in tandem with the fitbit app monitors your steps each day. Once you install and set up the app it defaults to 10,000 steps per day but you can adjust it as you please. The band has five LED lights built in. Whenever you tap the band twice, it will light up showing your progress for the day. You’ve met your goal once all 5 LED lights turn on. If not, you know just how much you need to “push it” so you can make your goal by the end of the day.

discipline. discipline. discipline.
You have to use the fitbit app for tracking calories. Simply go through their huge database of food items and select what you’re eating. It will automatically calculate the amount of calories for you. You can also scan an item’s barcode to input the calorie count. I will admit. You do have to be disciplined and enter in every single meal daily: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. The FitBit app will display the amount of calories burned for the day as well as the amount of calories consumed. This way you can gage how many calories you can spare at any point in the day. It uses yellow, green and red icons to track your daily calorie intake. This includes telling you when you haven’t ate enough too!
weight management
The weight monitoring is also done in the fitbit app. You need to manually input your weight each week and it will keep track of it for you. To me this is more of a weight management log. The band nor the app is really keeping track of your weight. But it is nice to have everything in one place.
I really like the FitBit because, like I keep saying, it’s like having a fitness trainer with you at all times. The fitbit helps you keep track of your fitness goals and motivates you to stay active as much as possible. I think it’s an awesome gadget and I love the fact that the band comes in several colors and styles. I think that is a great gift dads, moms and kids who are interested in maintaining their overall well-being.
