Hello everyone, I hope all is well with you. I’m back today after a week of vacationing and I needed it! I’ve been working, running, and writing, and I needed some time off.

But enough about that. Today, I want to talk about writing conferences. I attended an online writing conference last weekend. I admit I was a little skeptical, but it was reasonably priced and so I decided to go for it. The classes were great, and the agent pitches went well. Now I wait.
If you’re an author and you’re looking for an agent, I would recommend Brian Klem’s and his writing workshops. They really deliver. The agents were wonderful to work with, and the classes were spot on. I enjoyed one where the speaker was an independent publisher, and she gave us insight into the publishing industry. I asked her the question: Do you feel the industry is on a decline because less people are reading? She responded that yes, book sales have dipped, but audio books have soared. This is important. She explained that sales are still happening it’s just the medium has changed. Publishing is a thirty-four-billion-dollar industry.

I wanted to share this with all of you who’re writing. Keep plugging away. Not only is the publishing industry a billion-dollar industry. There are plenty of streaming companies who are looking for content too. Where are they looking? At books. So. keep writing. Your time will come.

I also want to give a shameless plug for Brian Klems and his workshops. He not only provides classes that are relevant and informative, but he gives us the opportunity to pitch agents, which helps us get feedback for our stories. I especially like chatting with the agents to find out what stories they’re looking for and get pearls of wisdom regarding the industry.
So, if you’re an author, you might want to check out his workshops.
