It occurred to me that while this blog is over 5 years old, I've never shared one of my greatest joys with you: my art.
In college I was once a quadruple major: however it was Fine Art and Art History that I graduated with. My art is so personal to me: it's gotten me through both the best, and most difficult of times. Due to recent events, I've started painting again. I thought that this would be a great opportunity to share some of my favorite pieces with you.
The two paintings above were painted in the same evening. I was taking a canvas stretching class, and in a fit of rebellion, I painted these on un-stretched canvas. My boyfriend in celebration of our new apartment had one of them stretched and framed for me. Canvases of this size don't frame for cheap, and I'm currently saving up to have the other fitted.
I took these two photographs while vacationing in Belize. I took these while wandering the quiet (albeit very windy!) sandy island streets of Caye Caulker. I grew up in Hawai'i, and visiting Belize made me realize how much I have missed the island life! Every day I miss the Belize islands.
This painting is my most recent. The same day of my accident, my sweet friend Crystal (and her boyfriend) brought over sushi and sunflowers. In a way, those sunflowers really got me though. My boyfriend in efforts to keep my mind occupied purchased a canvas for me, and it was the sunflowers that I decided to paint. This now hangs in our living room.
So loves, here is a sampling of my work! What do you think?
