My kids love noise (what kids don't?). And my daughter loves fairies (what girl doesn't?).
So I whipped up some 'quieter' noisy wands for them to play and dance around with. Maybe wands aren't exactly a boy toy, but whatever my daughter plays with, my sons play with. They just love to be involved!
Anyways, I thought of Tinkerbell and how her voice sounds like a bell to the little girl (in the latest movie), so I figured I'd use jingle bells to make the sound. These would be a great party favor if you're having a fairy/tinkerbell theme.
So here's what you do: Get together some fabric scraps, craft jingle bells, scrap ribbons, wooden dowels and your glue gun.
First off, get your fabric scraps and rip 1/2 inch wide strips.
Just make cuts at the bottom of the fabric and rip.
I tried to go with the same color scheme with each wand, but do what you like, kids love color!
Hot glue your ribbon onto the wooden dowel. Glue and wrap, that's all there is to it. To get a two-tone look, just wrap the ribbon with large gaps.
Then add the other color in the gaps.
Take string, or a skinnier ribbon to add the bells. Just string them on and tie a knot at the end.
Tie the other end onto the end of your dowel.
Then wrap your fabric pieces on. You can do this sort of aimlessly around the tops of your wand.
Once you have all your strips and ribbon on the end, you can finish it off by adding on last piece and wrapping around and gluing encasing it all in.
And that's all there is to it.
I made one for my girl and for the boys, but apparently, it was a hit and both of my boys wanted one. So I'll have to whip up one more today!
So colorful and fun!
And the bell has a subtle jingle that's noisy enough to attract the fairies! At least, my kids like to think so.
Don't mind the kiddos, still in their pj's.
