. . . to get the long Labor Day weekend off to a good start.
Three tenors who had met online and only just met each other in person, formed a group called “Forté” to audition on America’s Got Talent 2013.
From left to right, they are Fernando Varela from Puerto Rico, Hana Ryu from South Korea, and Josh Page from New York.
Not only do they sing beautifully, they chose a piece of sacred music, “Pie Iesu,” derived from the Roman Catholic liturgy.
The version of “Pie Iesu” sung by Forté is the Andrew Lloyd Webber version, which combines the text of the Pie Iesu with that of Agnus Dei that’s sung at Mass in some parishes:
Pie Iesu, (×4)
Qui tollis peccata mundi,
Dona eis requiem… (×2)
Pious Jesu,
Who takes on the sins of the world,
Give them rest…
Agnus Dei, (×4)
Qui tollis peccata mundi,
Dona eis requiem, (×2)
Sempiternam (×2)
Requiem…
Lamb of God,
Who takes on the sins of the world,
Give them rest,
Everlasting
Rest…
