For this weeks post I would like to introduce you to Kate Slater and her colourful hand cut papercut collages.

When you see Kate’s work, at first glance it seems as though it is all printed – but every piece is made up of several found paper pieces from magazines! Kate searches through mountains of magazines to find the pieces that are just right, she then cuts each piece out with scissors and arranges the pieces to create her detailed and charming illustrations.

Kate has also illustrated and authored the children’s book – “Magpie’s Treasure“  in her creative and unique style. The book is about Magnus the magpie who is a bird with an eye for bright, shiny things, which is a sure favourite for any child. The whole book is illustrated by Kate, taking children and adults alike, on a magical journey to the moon and back!

With birds being a recurring source of inspiration for Kate, you can see that she really enjoys creating these pieces and has even created them all on a large scale for a window display!
