Petals on the WindTV Movie (2014)
Starring: Heather Graham, Ellen Burstyn, Rose McIver and Wyatt NashSummary: Years after Flowers in the Attic, when Christopher, Cathy and Carrie escaped the terrible attic that they were placed in, Petals on the Wind, follows their lives soon and the secrets and lies are far from over. Their mother, Corrie, is lying up in Foxworth all enjoying life with her husband, Bart. Their grandmother is lying in bed, recovering from a stroke. Chris, trying to become a doctor, Cathy, a ballet dancer, and Carrie, trying to be a normal high schooler are just trying to live life and forget the attic.
My Thoughts: Tv's trashtabulous childen are back and I don't mean the Kardashians.
The book, Petals on the Wind, stunned me and I have to admit, this movie did the same. I have to applaud the acting because it is much better in this movie than in the previous one; the acting in that film was terrible and although this movie didn't make up for that one's flop, it did make me happier that I stuck around to watch this. You probably wouldn't think that Lifetime could handle such a great adaptation, but this one does hold up. Be aware, it does not go side-by-side with the book as the first movie does, it is just as good.This movie succeeds in some places, but fails to follow through on others, however.The pacing is one part. The movie is about 2 hours long, but it felt as if everything was shoved in and scuffled through in about twenty minutes. I guess that could count as a good thing, but more me, I expected to be a little more satisfied. It was all over the place and there seemed to be more attention to the last 15 minutes than the movie as a whole.Of course, there's the problem I have with Heather Graham. She is a talented actress and I liked seeing her in some of the smaller roles she did like in, The Hangover or About Cherry, but she did not live up to her full potential like she could have.She wasn't believable, nor was she memorable in any way. Her character was, indeed, crazy, but as an actor, I didn't feel for her or care about her in any way whatsoever. So, there's Petals on the Wind, love it or hate it, the movie still exists. Still batshit crazy, still good, but still has some problems.It's good...for a Lifetime movie.
