Mel (Stiller) is on a search for his biological parents and goes on a cross-country trip with his wife Nancy (Arquette), their four-month old baby and Tina (Leoni), a woman from the adoption agency that is cataloging the experience.
Oh is this film bad. Unlikeable characters, unfunny situations, just bad bad bad. It has the old Hollywood trope of the troubled marriage and so they just flirt with practically anyone who comes there way. I never get why these types of relationships are so prevalent in films and tv shows. It just makes me wonder how and why they ever got married in the first place. It’s not even done with any build-up or anything, and it’s not like they have massive problems anyway. All it would take is some communication. I didn’t even understand why they were flirting with other people. And the trip to find his parents, BORING. Who cares? Seriously. There’s nothing to engage the audience here, it’s a complete waste of a film with no redeeming features at all. There’s not even a resolution at the end. I’m not sure what the point is. Not funny. Not interesting. Went from Flirting with Disaster to being one.
