Doubt is intense and I was hooked to the screen. Streep Hoffman, and Adams are fantastic. The dynamic between them is incredible and their scenes bristled with tension. I loved the different moral dilemmas at play, and the ending floored me. I believe this is a film that will reward multiple viewings as there are certain nuances that are revealed towards the end of the film.
I enjoyed how grand themes like doubt, intolerance, and faith were distilled down into this film. There’s a lot going on here, and aside from the three main players Viola Davis had a powerful role that lasted only a few minutes, but had a strong impact. I was floored by the ending as well, which had a strong emotional punch.
There’s a lot to discuss about this film and it is one that lends itself to exploring different opinions and viewpoints. I almost wish I were part of a film club so I could discuss this with other people as the issues it raises are controversial and thought-provoking.
