Motivating Moms for Financial Success

Becoming a parent at a time when I didn't have much knowledge about finances myself, we are kind of both learning along the way. Like all parents, I feel a strong urge to always teach my children everything that I can about everything I know. So what do I know about money? What do you know about money? It's such a hard conversation for some.

Prudential brought a bunch of women from the Houston area to have these discussions and I found that when we all let our guard down and weren't afraid to be vulnerable, we opened ourselves up to learning more. So here are some takeaways for me: I'm gonna talk to my kids more about money, I'm gonna learn about some life planning and finally the big one because of twins-college planning.

Kids and Money Talk
Whether we are starting with counting money, saving for a favorite toy or even how to manage a big birthday money gift, we can always use a little help explaining the value of a dollar earned. Prudential has several personal essays about how kids learned from their parents to help inspire you how to talk to your kids.

Life Planning
Prudential is on a mission to empower women with financial solutions so they can be confident they are making the right decisions for themselves and their families. They can help women of all ages protect their families, their money and more. We can both learn about life planning here.

Paying for College
And the big one! Or big two in my case! My biggest financial regret is student loans, and I don't want my children to take that on themselves, so this will be our task to conquer, together, and sooner than later!

I feel like it all goes back to life long learning. The more we learn, the more we teach, not only our children, but our mothers, spouses and friends! And it often starts with a conversation, watch one mom talk about a money conversation she had with her son below! I hope it encourages you to take advantage of any resources available and start these convos with yours as well!
