These charts are from a new Morning Consult / Politico Poll -- done on June 1st and 2nd of a random national sample of 1,999 registered voters, with a 2 point margin of error.
It shows that a majority of Americans think Donald Trump tweets too much, and that belief has grown in the last few months. Last December, that was the opinion of 56% of registered voters. It has now grown to 69% -- a significant growth of 13 points. That opinion has grown among all three political groups -- from 75% to 82% among Democrats, from 48% to 70% among Independents, and from 42% to 53% among Republicans.
As the chart below shows, most voters opinion that Trump's tweeting is a bad thing has also grown -- from 49% to 59% ( a growth of 10 points. Among Democrats it has grown from 72% to 77%, among Independents from 43% to 61%, and among Republicans from 29% to 37%.
Voters also think the tweeting hurts his presidency (57%), U.S. standing in the world (53%), and national security (51%). And nearly half (48%) think it will hurt Republicans chance for re-election in 2018.
It pretty obvious from these numbers that Trump should stop tweeting, but he seems incapable of doing that. I expect he will continue to keep shooting himself (and his party) in the foot.
