The non-profit Mars One Foundation has been busy planning their project on establishing a human colony on the red planet. If things go according to their plan, they will send four people at a time on one-way trip to Mars, starting in 2023. On August 31st, the Mars One team just wrapped up collecting volunteers for this mission. And their total count was 202,586. That’s right, more than 200K people have volunteered to go on a trip to Mars and never come back.

According to Space.com, almost a quarter of these people are from the U.S., followed by a ten-percent of Indians and people from other countries around the world. However, only 40 candidates will have the chance to actually participate in this project. And that’s not all, these carefully selected participants will have to survive a 7-year space training before they go die on Mars.

I don’t know about you guys, but if someone asks me to jump in on an one way trip to Mars, I’d say hell no. We live only a few years, and I sure don’t wanna live the best times of my remaining life looking at a red desert full of nothing. Sure, it would be amazing to take a look at the space and take one for the Earth but I just don’t think it’s worth the price.

Anyway, how about you, would you say yes?
