Monty Bojangles truffles aren’t new to me but for some reason I’ve never reviewed them up until now. My sister made us up a chocolate and wine hamper as part of my Christmas present and included a box of Monty Bojangles Taste Adventures, an assortment of cocoa dusted truffles including three of their popular flavours: Choccy Scoffy, Flutter Scotch and Berry Bubbly.
There is a small disclaimer on the box saying “Monty endeavours to ensure all flavours are included, however on occasion the selection may vary”. Well Monty did a good job on my box as there was a perfectly even number of all three flavours. Not that I actually shared, the quality of ingredients (the milk, cream and butter basically) are so high that unfortunately lactose intolerant Mr.1T can’t eat them. The Choccy Scoffy in particular really made him ill and if you follow my blog you’ll know that that only tends to happen when ‘real’ ingredients are used.
Choccy Scoffy
Curiously moreish intensely chocolatey French luxury truffles finished with a generous dusting of exquisite bitter-sweet cocoa.
As mentioned, I’ve had these before and knew they’d be good. They’re super rich with a gorgeous and intense chocolate flavor. Silky smooth and a real treat to eat.
Flutter Scotch
Curiously moreish intensely chocolatey French luxury truffles packed with creamy butterscotch pieces and a hint of sea salt finished with a generous dusting of exquisite bitter-sweet cocoa.
The chocolate aspect to the Flutter Scotch truffle is much the same as before, very rich and very chocolatey but it’s paired with a gorgeous incredibly buttery butterscotch flavor. Add to that the fact the butterscotch pieces are in small crunchy chips piercing through the velvet middle and it’s without a doubt a winner for me.
Berry Bubbly
A fruity berry cocoa dusted truffle packed with fun popping candy, a flavor explosion for your taste buds!
This truffle was different. The sweet strong raspberry flavor is delicious and worked nicely with the chocolate. The popping candy has me confused though. They’re fine, sweet and they pop alright but I don’t really understand why they’re there. The rest of the flavours and ingredients are really grown up and luxury feeling and they just seem a bit… cheaper if that makes sense.
Great tasting and well worth the slightly higher price tag but I can’t work out why they’ve done a Cadbury and just stuck some popping candy in there? It’s fun and I get that it plays into the crazy and curious adventures of Monty Bojangles but they threw me.
