What a month March has been! Here I was thinking it would calm a bit down, but in turn things got pretty busy around these parts. Spring finally started, but not really because we got hit with a snowstorm here on the east coast, luckily it wasn't as bad we were expecting. But the days are slowly starting to get warmer and the trees are showing it's first signs of blooming, and I couldn't be more excited.
I was hoping March would slow down a bit so that I could spend some time working on my calligraphy, well that didn't turn out so well. Now that my calendar is booked up until the second week of July, I purposely allowed myself the right amount of time to get all my design and event work done, along with a few hours and days planned for "me". This past month I was going and going, and this last week was one of the busiest and longest because of a large dessert order, so when Saturday came around I was totally exhausted. I seriously felt hungover. It was my sign that as much as it makes me so happy and excited that clients are emailing and reaching out to me to make their celebrations memorable, I've hit my limit.
As a small business owner that is some milestone, and I couldn't be more proud of myself. I've worked hard to get where I am right now, but I've also learned from the past that I can't overload myself, it just leads to frustration, very long nights, and things going wrong. Any event planner knows you just can't take on too much, you'll reach a point you're getting client details confused, missing deadlines, and no time left to actually creating work {not that I've reached this point now}. Plus, I've been trying to make more time to tackle a big project, my website redesign.
If you've noticed, my blog posts during March were sparse. I just didn't have the time to put projects and content I've worked on together to share. But I did manage to share one of my favorites events I styled, this Enchanted Forest 1st Birthday , seriously it's one of the loveliest parties. I still managed to share some Spring Cleaning DIY's like my go-to Natural All Purpose Cleaner , as well as some fun projects like this and the easiest . I of course still managed to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, with a decadent Guinness Chocolate Cake with Bailey's Cream Cheese Frosting and my new favorite cocktail, the .
But posts lacked more so because I finally began the process of the new Dreamery Events site. You may have seen the new header which I love so much, it really fits the feel of my brand, but now it's all the techy stuff that just isn't my forte. I'm honestly anxious and just want it done already, but I've learned that website redesigns just don't happen overnight, especially if you want it done right. But I really am so happy about the projects and events I have lined up in the meantime and can't wait to work on them, and of course then share with you!
I also decided it was time to do a cleanse, my body was calling for it, and it's the perfect way to start the month of April. The house and material things have been decluttered, now it's time to declutter my body. Of all the goals, the one I've been committed to the most; meditation. I don't see these moments as a time to quiet the mind, but little journeys. I've also, finally, gotten my set of healing crystals and am looking forward to learning the basics of incorporating them into mediation and my daily life.
I've always been a spiritual person, but in the last few months, I've seen a total transformation when it comes to myself, and how I handle emotions of sadness, anxiety and frustration. I've definitely felt more at peace with myself, in a sense freer, like I'm not putting up this facade and am simply being myself. And it's with this sense of reawakening that good things have been popping up, like business for Dreamery Events booming. There isn't a day that I'm not grateful and am thankful for the things that have brought me happiness.
As far as what I have planned for the rest of the month, I think my sum it up pretty well. I didn't want to make a list of specific things to do this season, instead I wanted simplicity. Simple activities and projects that remind me why I love spring so much, things that make me happy and feel connected : to myself, loved ones, my surroundings, and of course Mother Nature.
March has been so fulfilling that I can't wait for what lies ahead in April!
