March has been the most exciting month of the year so far for me. It was the month I was reunited with JP for two weeks, we took a trip to Buenos Aires, I finished all of my uni assignments early and found somewhere to live for third year of uni. All in all a pretty successful month!
Where I’ve Been Travelling
London
Before I escaped the country for two weeks I had time to enjoy what seemed like the beginning of spring in London.
I spent an afternoon back at my favorite cafe in East Sheen: the Robyn Craft Cafe. This little Vietnamese cafe has a glorious range of gluten and dairy free cake as well as the most gorgeous tea selection. Nothing beats drinking a mint tea made with actual mint. If you are in this south west hub of London be sure to check it out.
To really make the most of the spring sunshine I decided to head over to the Petersham Nurseries in Richmond. They are an easy cycle from my house but still accessible from Richmond train station if you don’t mind a 20-30 minute walk. The tea house here is quaint and seating is located in the glasshouses, the perfect place for enjoying the spring sun when it isn’t quite warm enough to be outside. The atmosphere here is busy but I liked that, will certainly be going back!
Finally I got to enjoy another afternoon tea experience with my best friend. This time we opted for something a little different, the BBbakery bus which serves afternoon tea while showing off all of the cities sights. It was a delicious afternoon tea and you can read in more detail about it here.
Rio
I typically haven’t done much since I’ve been here, I was exhausted from the last month of uni work. That being said I did head out to Deodoro one of the areas that Olympic venues are being placed and even got a sneak peek at the canoe slalom and bmx track. Aside from that I’ve been running along Copacabana and Ipanema Beach and had dinner at the best restaurant by the lagoa. The coming weekend promises to be the best in Brazil but more on that below.
Buenos Aires
We spent the Easter weekend exploring this very European city. It was a relaxed but action packed weekend of sightseeing and eating… I mean what else would you do in BA? The city has some cool neighbourhoods like La Boca and cute cafes like those in Palermo making me instantly love it. I will be writing more about my time in the city over the coming weeks but it certainly differs to Rio.

Three Cups of Tea – Greg Mortensen and David Oliver Relin
I’ve just finished reading this book and absolutely loved it. Being a trainee teacher myself it reminded me of the importance of education in every child’s life. Unfortunately there is a lot of negativity surrounding this book with people claiming much of what is written is lies, however, I guess that is always the danger of a real story being made fiction.

April
Next month I will spend the first week in Brazil with most of my time spent in Rio expect a weekend trip to the gorgeous island of Ilha Grande. I cannot wait to explore a little more of this amazing country. I don’t have any other big plans for Rio as JP is at working during the week. I will of course be spending my time running, sunbathing and generally enjoying Rio life.
Once I am back in the UK I have some busy weekends coming up. Football with my parents, a birthday weekend in London (my best friend has arranged a surprise trip) and the London Marathon. As well as this I will be back on school placement full time with uni meaning 8-5 in school every week. The days might be long but I cannot wait to get back in there everyday!
April seems like it could be another busy month.
