Canadian Music Week offers a lot of great opportunities to visit sweet venues for great live music. And on Wednesday night we continued our CMW at The Horseshoe Tavern with performances by MONOWHALES and Ferraro.
After seeing Side Hustle and Kasador start the show, the APA showcase kept on rolling.
Ferraro was the third act of the night to hit the legendary Toronto stage, and the hometown rock and rollers kept the energy up from the jump. If you've spent any time watching live music at The 'Shoe, you know that things start to get sweaty when the music gets loud, the crowd gets big, and everyone starts moving. And by the time Ferraro got into the swing of things, sweaty was one of the aptest words to describe the set.
On stage the boys played through a setlist of songs including Fools Paradise, Running Away, and fan favourite, Losing Sleep from their 2016 album of the same name. On the floor, feet were moving, fans were singing to the songs they know and love, and Canadian Music Week once again showed us that good times are all over the schedule.
It's been about 15 months since Ferraro released their last single, Can You Feel It, and which means we're ready for new music from Cosmo, Tally, and Gianni as soon as they have it ready for us. You should be too.

In the 11 pm time slot, excited and ready to go, was MONOWHALES, and we were ready for them too.
These four indie pop darlings kept all of the feet moving, the music pumping, and the smiles on faces. We were at peak sweat, crowd size, and immersion in the live music moment as they played new music, songs from their 2018 release Control Freak, a surprise cover, and all of it with gusto.

Noticeable, and exciting was the way the new music meshed perfectly with everything we're already into from the MONOWHALES catalogue. It's just one more reason we can't wait for the band's next release, whenever that may be.
Like other live MONOWHALES sets we've seen, this was a go go go affair. Everything about their performance was about moving forward, keeping the music and the show going, and the fun at a high level. Live music is awesome when it's played like that. The band is into it, the crowd is into it, and from the moment you get hooked, you know you're in for a good time.
We mentioned a surprise cover, so we should pay that off. With great fluidity, the band jumped into their version of Blur's massive 1997 hit, Song 2. As you can guess or you may expect, the energy level in the room when ears recognized the song jumped. The "woo hoo's" echoed from the stage to the crowd and back again, and I can tell you that I saw a single person look anything other than happy to be singing and bouncing and dancing along.
A year ago, we saw MONOWHALES on stage at The Phoenix during Canadian Music Week. That night they wowed us with their energy, showmanship, and music. On Wednesday night at The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern, they did it again.
When you get the chance to see them live. Take it, and see for yourself!
