This is a very special Monday Crush as I'm writing it from the beautiful Stockholm!
As you probably already know from my Instagram feeds, I arrived last week together with the Design Bloggers United for our design tour of the beautiful Swedish capital. Also, we were blogging for the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair where we had the chance to see some of our favorite companies and meet some of the promising future designers.
But today is all about this year SFF Guest of Honour: the Danish-Italian studio GamFratesi, who was consequently invited to design the lounge at the fair. "Get the balance right" was their motto, something they manage to achieve in all their projects with their ability to bring together the Danish hand-craft and furniture knowledge and the Italian conceptual approach to design. The outcome is a series of simple and functional objects, rooted in the best Scandinavian tradition but with a strong, poetic story to tell. A story that usually prefers the minimalist language.
Last week I had the chance to see the Key side table GamFratesi designed for One Nordic Furniture Company: it was infact part of the furniture selection we used to style our Blogger Apartment at Fantastic Frank office. The table consists of a solid ash top fitted on a slim metal structure. On line with the flatpack assembly system at the core of One Nordic philosophy, the table has a particular locking system based on the tripod principles. The joinery consists of two small plastic elements that lock the top to the below structure when turned into one. The ash top is a high quality crafted wooden piece, as in the best Danish tradition. I must say the Key side table has definitely entered my wishlist.
