What I'm wearing: H&M faux leather pants, J.Crew sweater, similar booties, Ray Ban sunglasses, MK watchLadies, consider this a blind fashion date, because I'd like you to meet your new love interest of the season: Leather pants! In case you've been living under a rock, let me catch you up: Leather is IT for fall and winter. Whether you have the budget to buy the real deal, or like me, stick to the faux variety, if you are going to buy one thing this season, make it something with the leather look.
I chose to go faux because they were not only comfortable (gave a little more stretch than real leather) but they also fit my budget. Stay patient and shop around until you find your perfect match. When it comes to faux, things can get ugly, fast. It's not difficult for imitation leather to look excessively shiny or too plasticky and everyone will know those pants of yours are fakes from a mile away. I searched high and low to find my perfect pair. I instantly fell in love with this pair from H&M. The leather look was exactly what I had been searching for. The tuxedo stripe down the outer leg is not only a fun detail, but extremely flattering. Most of all, you can't beat the price ($35!).
I've loved experimenting with my new fancy pants. I discovered that leather works best with contrasting textured fabrics. My favorite matches are with knits, denim, lightweight flannel, and sequins for night. But imagine of all the possibilities! What a great alternative to party dresses this holiday season!
