The Department of Philosophy at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) invites applications for a full-time contract faculty position in Philosophy of Science for academic year 2014/15 at the rank of assistant professor. This position is subject to confirmation of funding availability and may be renewed for an additional term, subject to satisfactory performance, continued curricular need, and confirmation of funding.
Required qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Philosophy or closely related field, evidence or promise of scholarly achievement, and two years of university- or college-level teaching experience. AOS: Philosophy of natural science, broadly construed (e.g., philosophy of
physical science, philosophy of biological science, or general philosophy of science). AOC: Open.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory and mid-level undergraduate courses, such as introduction to philosophy, science and society, and philosophy of science, hold office hours and advise students, engage in an active program of scholarly research, participate in relevant departmental and Minnesota Center for Philosophy of Science activities, and perform service appropriate for the rank of appointment.
