From Penticton's Bad Tattoo Brewing comes their "Midnight hopmare Black IPA". The beer pours an opaque black colour with a brown head. The aroma consists of roasted malts, mild fruit notes, floral hops. The flavour is of roasted malts, burnt coffee, citrus, bitterness, earth and some caramel. The alcohol content comes in at 6.6%. I'm not always a huge fan of Black IPA's because I find that the roast overpowers the IPA characteristics. This beer has the roast profiles but also lots of IPA notes and tastes great.
Commercial Description: Do not be fooled by the silky smooth mouthfeel, this black as midnight beer packs a whole lotta hop kick. Piney and resinous, with slight hints of citrus, but boasting a robust roastiness from the dehusked black malts used. This is the- 'Really' Dark Side of Good!
