Ppppy indie shoegaze trio Middle Kids' first full-length :Lost Friends is an album about relationships that ended up on the rocks. The Sydney based trio keep it radio-friendly, with an occasional uutburst of distorted guitar to placate the rock crowd.
Polished grief and anxiety are the order of the day. It is all done in good taste, like a light version of Arcade Fire or PJ Harvey. Edge of Town might be their ticket to the Summer Festival circuit with its wavering, sunny side up vocals and swirling guitars on top of a lazy backbeat leading up to the double-time climax. Making things a little dirtier in the future would not hurt them.
Love Spells is released thru Domioo.
