Peanut brittle is a delicious and fun candy and is very easy to make by melting sugar with your favorite nuts. While traditionally done on the stovetop, you can make it even faster and easier with a microwave oven. It is quick to make, and a lot of fun to break apart after it has cooled!

Here are a variety of ways to make peanut brittle in your microwave oven at home. Try one, or try them all, then combine your favorite techniques from each for your new go-to peanut brittle recipe.

Video Instructions for Making Peanut Brittle in the Microwave

This short video from croutoncrackerjacks on YouTube goes over the whole process so you can watch it being made, even if you are still sitting at work thinking about making peanut brittle when you get home.

There is a very good point about adjusting the recipe to the wattage of your microwave. This video uses a 1000-watt microwave and cautions that you should adjust the time based on the wattage of the microwave you have. More powerful microwaves cook faster, so if even a simple recipe like this seems to take too long, you can easily find a replacement in our collection of the latest and best new microwaves.

Chocolate Coated Peanut Brittle in the Microwave

This recipe from CookingWithKarma on YouTube adds a step – coating the pieces of peanut brittle in chocolate. After all, chocolate makes everything better, right?

Microwave Cashew Brittle

Kat at Cooking With Kat on YouTube demonstrates cashew brittle. There are many different nuts you can use, of course, but cashews are an especially delicious substitution for a nut brittle.

No Corn Syrup Microwave Peanut Brittle

Almost every version of the microwave peanut brittle recipes I researched included corn syrup – which may not be in your cupboards, and some people try to avoid having in their food if at all possible.

This recipe from HoneyBeeMelissa at AllRecipes uses caramel candies to replace the sugar and corn syrup. You could also try adapting a no corn syrup stovetop method like this one from DrSalia.com, heating in the microwave gradually instead of on the stove.

If you have a no corn syrup, microwave peanut brittle that uses just sugar or other natural sweeteners, please let us know in the comments!
