Scandinavia has been supplying the world with beautiful, electro-heavy pop tracks lately, and Stockholm’s Wouie is no exception. The duo formed recently in an effort to counteract the harshness of the Swedish winter — and their music shows that they have. Their shimmering electro sounds have a base in indie rock that drives forward with more fervor than a number of their Swedish counterparts. With an 80s flair and a beat that won’t quit, their newest track, “It is What it is”, is a delicious pile of synth with a bright chorus that bounds forward with an explosive catchiness. The distorted vocals and guitar riffs pierce through the billowing of synths and background chants. Despite the regretful nature of the song’s message, it will get you on your feet and keep you moving for all three minutes.
