Meet Alice, Beatrix & Tamara.

When most of us find our dream home, very few of us are blessed with the luxury of original cast-iron radiators. Beautifully crafted, intricately detailed, chunky solid build and a roaring heat output, what’s not to love?

If you have been longing for one of these beauties since the day you laid eyes on your 1980s convector radiators, then you are in luck.

Milano Heating have designed three new cast-iron radiator ranges that are as close to the real thing as you are going to get! We are so excited to introduce to you Milano Alice, Beatrix and Tamara.

Each range exudes the period property style that we all know and love with a design to suit your home. So, let’s find out a little more about these three lovely ladies.

Milano Alice

A classic, narrow column radiator.

Milano Beatrix

A beautiful radiator with ornate floral etchings.

Milano Tamara

An art-deco-style oval column radiator.

Original Cast-Iron Radiators

I’m sure you can’t wait to get to know these three. But just in case you want to imagine how good these could look in your home, we’ve put together some of our favorite show-stopping cast-iron radiators from grand Victorian properties to cosy country homes.

@roundwood_grange

Meet Alice, Beatrix & Tamara.

Our cast-iron tour begins with the magnificent Roundwood Grange. Built in 1898, this stately home style property is adorned with original, beautifully embellished cast-iron radiators.

Meet Alice, Beatrix & Tamara.

During the Victorian period when central heating was still considered a luxury, cast-iron radiators were considered decorative features to convey elegance and style.

The antique detailing of these radiators is not only aesthetically pleasing to suit this grand home, but the cast-iron construction is brilliant at retaining heat to keep the large rooms warmer for longer.

If you love the beautiful ornate gold radiator we see at the top of the stairs then you are going to love Milano Beatrix. But, if the straight column radiator under the window is catching your eye then Milano Alice is your girl.

It’s incredible to think that after all these years these fabulous radiators are still going strong and keeping this stunning property cosy and warm! It just goes to show the longevity that quality cast-iron rads can offer.

A blue freestanding bath in a white bathroom under a window.

Moving on to a beautiful Edwardian home by the sea in Whitley Bay we spot another beautiful original cast-iron radiator in Caroline’s bathroom.

We love how Caroline’s home combines Edwardian charm with modern elements and the original radiator works so well with both interior styles.

Meet Alice, Beatrix & Tamara.

The ornate floral etchings on the cast-iron rad tie together perfectly with the Edwardian fireplace. If you’re lucky enough to have an original fireplace like this beauty, a cast-iron radiator is the best way to create a unified look with your home heating.

Caroline has done an amazing job painting her radiator a rich navy blue to complement her fabulous tiles and freestanding tub.

If you want to recreate this look at home, Milano Beatrix is the one for you.

Even better, if you want to paint your radiator like Caroline to complement your color scheme, our charcoal primer can easily be removed to apply the finish you want.

Our next stop takes us to Ireland to take a look at the gorgeous cast-iron radiators of Cherington House.

Hand crafted cast-iron radiators reclaimed from a salvage yard have given this stunning new build the Edwardian charm with its own modern feel.

We love the contrast of light and dark with the color scheme and the radiators stand out beautifully against the bright walls.

Bringing together the old and the new, Cherington House is the perfect example of how you can add a cosy period style look to any new home.

Another stop in the Irish countryside takes us to Olivia’s cosy country home. This beautiful self-build has a classic, effortless look and a comforting natural color palette.

The antique style radiators complement each room and the bright white finish allows the raised etched mouldings to stand out beautifully.

Olivia loves the fabulous character that her cast-iron radiators add to the space and so do we!

Meet Alice, Beatrix & Tamara.

Over in Yorkshire, Sandra describes her Victorian home as the style of an eccentric nana and what name comes to mind when you picture an eccentric nana? Beatrix, of course!

It did not come as a surprise to us that Sandra decided to install the ornate Beatrix style radiators in her vintage-inspired home.

Combining heavily patterned floral furnishings with more bold patterns and textures for good measure, Sandra sees every surface as a space to inject character. Radiators included!

Meet Alice, Beatrix & Tamara.

Down in a tiny terrace in Southend-on-Sea, Laura showcases her eclectic style and has opted for a classic column cast-iron rad to match.

The steel gray finish is so beautiful against the clean white subway tiles and we love the mix of the vintage style radiator and contemporary interior.

We couldn’t resist showing you the rest of this beautiful bathroom, so here is the other side to show you where this gorgeous rad lives.

The column radiator is a fabulous alternative to a heated towel rail in this stylish space!

A colourful living room with wooden flooring and a cast-iron radiator.

At number 58, Fliss has gone for a vibrant color scheme in her Victorian terrace which has given the space a bold character. Fliss describes her style as more is more and her beautiful home has become a gallery of her favorite pieces or art and patterned furnishings.

A black cast-iron radiator on a navy wall.

Only a radiator with as much oomph as a chunky cast-iron rad would offer enough attitude for this eccentric interior. The combination of the deep navy backdrop, blush pink sofa and the impressive cast-iron radiator has turned this cosy corner into a work of art.

@ahousebythetrees

Meet Alice, Beatrix & Tamara.

Our final stop takes us to Caroline’s dreamy country home by the trees. Combining cosy boho style with a modern country farmhouse feel, the space has an effortlessly relaxed look that invites you to slow down and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

An ornate cast-iron radiator on a white wall in a hallway.

Besides the breath-taking arched windows, the cast-iron radiators in this self-build have given this home it’s unique character and charm and the exposed brick is the perfect backdrop to showcase the ornate radiators.

We love how it seems to be a common theme in self-builds that people are opting for beautiful cast-iron radiators. It shows that the Victorian way of treating home heating as décor is on its way back and it is so exciting to see!
