I first heard Betty Who’s fabulous crack track, “Somebody Loves You”, a few months ago, a song that went viral after being used for that adorable Home Depot dance proposal video that I tried so hard not to cry through (dammit!). Prior to the video being posted, Betty Who had put up her four-song EP Movement as a free download on her website. However, after the Home Depot video, she was in high demand and Movement was quickly uploaded to iTunes. Shortly thereafter she was signed to RCA.

Now that the buzz has somewhat settled for the 21-year-old, the fact remains that Betty Who has a very real knack for crafting modern electronic-meets-80s pop jams worthy of the stir they’ve caused. The other three songs on Movement aren’t quite as infectious as her mega-hit “Somebody Loves You”, but they serve as a testimony to her ability to write songs that retain that power-pop energy while still remaining quality music. “Right Here” displays a slow-crawling, ghostly side of her sound, revealing a depth that we hope she further explores on future releases. So, if you can get “Somebody Loves You” off repeat long enough to give the rest of her EP a listen, you should most definitely do that.
