Mayfair Lane recently celebrated it's first birthday with a party that included balloons and cake! The West Perth venue, which can be hired for events and catered for 300 people on Melbourne Cup day, is based on the British Gastro-style pubs and offers some communal seating as well as separate tables. Once you enter the quirky front door your options include dining room seating, al fresco with cafe blinds and a pub grub section.
If the bubbles we started the night off with are anything to go by, the nominations are well deserved and a perfect way to celebrate. Delicious canapés on offer were beef, horseradish and mushroom on a crunchy crouton, followed by red onion salsa and scotch cheese. Both flavoursome and in manageable bite sized sizes, ideal to handle while holding a wine glass.
The battered fish that was served next was juicy and full of flavour and the chips were well salted and neither too soggy nor too dry. The paper bags soak up excess grease and add a little novelty to the night.
Bangers and mash is a staple on the menu and the caramelised onion gravy is amazing.A birthday party is not complete without a cake and this decadent creation was cut and served as dessert and was as delicious as it looks.
I finished the night off with a refreshing Pimms cocktail which holds 1/2 a standard serve of alcohol. Mayfair Lane is situated at 72 Outram Street, West Perth, and is open 11.30am until late Monday through to Saturday. They cater for events and parties and the staff are welcoming and friendly.
