Maybelline | ColourShow*

By Vividwinter

So I saw the new Maybelline Colour Show nail polishes and had to buy myself two because at £2.99 a pop, why not?! Maybelline say that they’ve been made with a new innovative transparent gel-base that gives a ‘fierce fashion finish!’ so I thought I’d try them out and see. – Bright, vivid colours are so on trend right now and Maybelline has 41 (yeah, that’s right, 41!) different shades to choose from in the UK and 40 in the US.

Superpower Blue (No.654) and Power Red (No.349) are the two I got purely because I always buy pink or purple polish. I fancied a change.

(US equivalents for Power Red are probably Keep Up the Flame (No.250) or Paint the Town (No.260) and for Superpower Blue, Shocking Seas (No.370) is probably the best)

Superpower Blue was a lot easier to apply than Power red because it was so much thicker. I literally put one hefty coat on and a top coat of BarryM All in One

It probably would have lasted longer if I hadn’t taken it off so I could try the red out. I’m a little disappointed though, I still haven’t found a red polish that Isn’t watery and thin. Power Red took around four coats before I got the finish I was happy with. It looks lovely now, but I really can’t be bothered doing that every single time I feel like red nails.

I’ll definitely be getting a few of the other colours (Electric Yellow (No.749), Wine Shimmer (No.265), Noite De Gal (No.104) and If I can get it, Limited Edition Vintage Leather Ageless Olive (No.870) for the Autumn) just because I love nail polishes and the ones I bought were great value for money. – I’m not sure whether It’s a good thing or not but people keep asking me where I got my (fake) nails done. So apparently my nails look plastic!!! Must be the gel-based formula. I’ve definitely had a good experience with Superpower Blue and the end result with Power red is so-so. I guess it’s just trial and error, huh?

They’re currently two for £5 at Superdrug with a good online selection and even more in store.
