Brother and sister Matthew Barber & Jill Barber toured together, played on each others albums as a guest, but never got around to cutting a record as a team. The Family Album is their debut as a duo. The album features six covers and five originals. Engineer Mike Piersante worked his magic to capture the vocals.
The Barbers share a love for country, folk and the mellow music of the late Sixties and early Seventies. Being Canadian it's no surprise that they included covers of Neil Young's Comes A Time and Ian Tyson's Summer Wages. Those covers are quite nice, but the originals are more interesting. Matthew's portrait of Grandpa Joe and Jill's Today are highly personal songs. The universal themes however, transcend the boundaries of Barber's inner circle.
The Family Album is released thru Outside Music/V2. Release date: June 24th.
