Powerlace does not look like the Air Mag shoe from the classic sci-fi movie, and has a completely unique design. The startup may have approached that probably to avoid getting into trouble with Universal Pictures or Nike. However, the shoe does have an auto-lacing feature similar to the Nike Air Mag. Believe it or not, it doesn’t require any batteries, motors or anything. It simply uses a pressure plate in the shoe to tighten the lace using the weight of the wearer’s body.
